Universal Tower Defense Relics Guide
Relics are one of the most important progression systems in Universal Tower Defense, offering a powerful way to increase unit damage and overall performance. When used correctly, relics can outperform traits and become the backbone of high-level builds. They are earned through gameplay and come with multiple stats, upgrade paths, and set bonuses that reward long-term grinding.
What Are Relics
Relics are special equipment items that provide stat boosts to your units. Unlike traits, which are rolled per unit, relics can be upgraded and optimized over time, making them a more controllable and scalable source of power. They focus mainly on damage increases but can also provide other useful bonuses depending on rarity and substats.
How to Obtain Relics
- Relics can be obtained by playing Story Mode and Virtual Realm.
- From Story Mode, you can acquire two relic pieces:
- Body Relic
- Legs Relic
- These two pieces can form a set, and equipping both from the same relic set grants a small bonus buff, which varies depending on the relic type.
- The third relic piece is obtained from Virtual Realm and functions as a standalone relic without set requirements.
Relic Pieces Explained
- Body Relic: Earned through Story progression and contributes to set bonuses.
- Legs Relic: Also earned through Story and pairs with the Body Relic for extra buffs.
- Virtual Realm Relic: Obtained only from Virtual Realm and acts as a normal relic piece, focused purely on stats rather than set synergy.
Relic Stats System
- Every relic comes with Main Stats and Substats.
- Main stats define the relic’s core strength, usually tied to damage or scaling bonuses.
- Substats provide additional effects that enhance performance further.
Upgrading Relics
- Relics have a limited number of upgrades based on their rarity.
- Every 3 upgrades, a new substat is unlocked.
- Higher-rarity relics can be upgraded more times, meaning they can unlock more substats than lower-rarity relics.
- This makes high-rarity relics far stronger in the long run, even if their base stats start similar.
Why Relics Matter
Relics reward consistency and planning. By farming the right modes, completing sets, and upgrading wisely, you can create builds that significantly outperform trait-reliant setups. For late-game content, relics are not optional—they are essential for maximizing unit damage and clearing harder stages efficiently.
